Steve Wedan, Chair

Steve Wedan has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University, summa cum laude, and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University.  He has 19 years of medical device experience, including design engineering of MRI and ultrasound systems for GE Healthcare, as well as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Applied Biometrics Inc.  Prior to co-founding Imricor, Mr. Wedan founded and operated a successful technical consulting company, Wedan Technologies Inc., from 2000-2006.  Mr. Wedan is a U.S. appointed expert in the fields of MRI safety and the compatibility of implanted and interventional products in MRI.

John Booth

John Booth is the CEO of Spineology. Prior to joining Spineology, Mr. Booth held various executive level positions at Phillips Plastics Corporation, most recently serving as CEO from June of 2001 to December 2002. Before serving as CEO of Phillips, he was CEO of Microvena Corporation, a cardiovascular device subsidiary of Phillips, from 1999 to 2001 and CEO of Phillips Origen Group Division from 1998 to 1999. Prior to Phillips, Mr. Booth was President and CEO of INCSTAR Corporation, a publicly held medical technology company involved in in-vitro diagnostics. He has held various positions in both financial and general management in the medical technology industry since 1981. Mr. Booth received a BS degree in accounting from Villanova University and an MBA from Seton Hall University.

Niels Kuster, PhD

Professor Niels Kuster is co-founder and President of the Board of Schmid & Partner Engineering, AG.  He received his MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. In 1993, he was elected Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering of ETHZ. He has also served as the founding Director of the Foundation for Research on Information Technologies in Society (IT’IS), Switzerland since its inception in 1999. During his career he has held invited professorships at the Electromagnetics Laboratory of Motorola, Inc, Florida, and at the Metropolitan University in Tokyo, Japan in 1998. In addition, he is a founding member of MaxWave AG (1999) and Zurich Med Tech AG (2006). He was awarded Professor at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich in 2001.

Albert Lardo, PhD

Dr. Albert C. Lardo received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1993), M.S. in Biomedical Engineering (1995) and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (1997) from the University of Pittsburgh.   He completed his fellowship training in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University before joining the medical faculty in 1999.  He is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and serves as Associate Director for Cardiovascular Imaging for the Division of  Cardiology. 

Dr. Lardo has authored over 60 peer reviewed manuscripts and 10 patents in the field of cardiovascular imaging technology and therapy.  He is the recipient of multiple awards including two Young Investigator Awards and the Whitaker Foundation Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship Award.  He was the lead author on the first ever MRI guided cardiac ablation study that appeared in the journal Circulation in 2000.  Dr. Lardo has co-founded 2 medical device companies and has served on the advisory boards of 3 others.  Dr. Lardo’s area of research interest and expertise is MRI/CT cardiac imaging and myocardial therapies for electrophysiology disorders and ischemic heart disease.

Barb Peterson

Barb Peterson is founder and President of Emerson Consultants, Inc., a company focused on offering Reimbursement, Regulatory, Clinical and Market Development consulting to the medical device, biologic and pharmaceutical industries.  Currently, Barb is working with numerous medical device, diagnostic, and biologic companies, from start-ups to multi-billion dollar organizations.  Prior to starting Emerson Consultants, Barb was Director of Marketing, Reimbursement and Communications for SpineTech (now Zimmer Spine), Director of Reimbursement at Cordis (J&J) and Indigo/Ethicon Endosurgery (J&J).  At Emerson, Barb has worked with companies developing products in the following areas: Cardiology, Spine, Orthopedics, Wound Care, Thoracic, Vascular, Neurology, Oncology, ENT, Ob-Gyn, Urology, and Radiology.  Barb has an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Minnesota.  Barb serves on the board of Imricor Medical Systems Inc., a start-up company with an MRI guided ablation technology for cardiac and other applications.
